Dave was born in Gadsden, Alabama, parented by the perfect parents…Tough, loving, and Godly parents. Dave is the youngest of three children. His older brother and sister set great examples for Dave to follow. Dave spent a lot of time with his older brother, especially during the summer when school was not in session when Dave's Mom worked outside the home. This proved to be a major building block for Dave as he spent a lot of time at band practice and drumline rehearsals with his brother. Dave began learning his craft at age five by learning to play what his older brother played. This continued through the years until finally Dave's big brother graduated high school and there was no more band practice. Dave's older brother was also a fantastic kit drummer. Dave capitalized on every opportunity to hear his brother play, either in rehearsal or concert settings. This helped Dave to learn the importance of feel, groove and tempo. Dave grew up with Godly parents that instilled Christian values throughout his life. As a kid, Dave was active in The United Methodist Church including youth music programs where he got his first chance to play drums and percussion other than in school bands. During high school Dave became involved with and very active with College Heights Baptist Church youth program, including a youth music program which included extensive travel and performances across the United States and Canada. As a young adult, Dave met and married the love of his life, Nancy. Nancy was active with The Assembly Of God Church in their home town, so Dave became involved as well. This was a very different style of worship, but a great experience. Dave and Nancy moved from city to city throughout the Southeast over the next several years as job transfers and promotions dictated. During these years, Dave and Nancy were blessed with two daughters, Nichole and Hillary. As most young families experience, times were tough, but God continued to bless them. Dave began teaching marching percussion for supplemental income, and soon learned that his gift was transferable to his students. Through the years, Dave taught several high school percussion ensembles and was employed as a clinician for many groups. Dave had the distinct honor of instructing the Thompson High School Marching Percussion ensemble in Alabaster, Alabama for eleven years officially retiring from high school instruction in 2002 after both daughters graduated. Dave and Nancy moved to the Birmingham, Alabama area and became active in Westwood Baptist Church where the spent many years teaching Children's Church and youth Sunday School. Dave became active in the Praise Team playing percussion, his true musical love. Although not active for some time now, the skill set was back and better than ever. After several years with this team, Dave began feeling led to explore another church home. With music a very important part of the worship experience for Dave, there is no question that God led Dave and Nancy to Kingwood Assembly of God. As God planned, this was the perfect timing to explore, with a new Music Pastor who was actively praying for an accomplished percussionist. He prayed, god answered and Dave arrived. This not only fulfilled Dave's need to REALLY worship the King through music, but also re-ignited Dave's desire to keep his walk straight. Dave truly believes that his percussive talents and abilities are a gift from God to be shared with others musically, and in a worshipful manner. This by no means prevents Dave from ROCKING OUT. Dave enjoys playing with any group that shares his love for music and performance, from Contemporary Christian to secular Latin, Blues, Rock or Funk
