Dave Gowens - Percussionist

Dave Gowens, affectionately known as "Teeto" (southern for Tito) started playing at the age of 5 with his older brother as his mentor. Dave's first percussive love was marching percussion, but soon included hand percussion. Dave has been influenced by many players, including Candido Camero for the use of his fingers, Luis Conte for his groove, Eliot Torres for his explosive style and many other Cuban percussionist such as Chano Pozo (Gonzalez) for his polyrhythmic approach.

Dave currently plays with "The Lucky Stiffs", "Kingwood Church Praise Team", the occasional studio session and virtually anyone that asks him, as long as they have some sign of groove and LOVE to play.
